Robert Baden-Powell Biography




Robert Baden-Powell was a lieutenant general in the British Army. He’s famous for founding the Boy Scouts when he learned that his military textbook Assistance to Scouting was being used for training boys in woodcraft. Then he wrote Scouting for Boys and retired in the military in 1910 to dedicate his time to the group. His sister, Agnes, helped to found the Girl Guides and worked with Juliette Gordon Low to bring Girl Scouts to America.
