Produced in Pennsylvania in 1948, Park Dietz is among America’s most notable and skilled forensic psychiatrists. Park Elliott Dietz was born in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, in 1948. Dietz described his mom, a nurse, as “a wonderful, generous, loving girl.” He felt his dad was hard to please, yet, so when a doctor who had been the son of doctor, his dad made it clear he anticipated his only child to practice medicine too. At dinner time, his dad would occasionally make Dietz look at photos of surgical procedures. In a young age, Dietz revealed a strong internal drive.

In 1966, Dietz entered Cornell University, also it was there that his interest in examining deviant behaviour grew. During his sophomore year, he took a course called “Sociology of Deviance” which was known among pupils as “Nuts & Sluts.” After pursuing a double major in psychology and biology, in 1970 he graduated with cum laude honors. Dietz the following couple of years on a senatorial scholarship studying in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine before transferring to John Hopkins University in 1972.

In 1978, at age 29, Dietz became the youngest assistant professor in the Harvard Medical School. In this time he also worked as manager of forensic psychiatry at Bridgewater State Hospital for the Criminally Insane until 1980. In 1982, Dietz testified for the prosecution in the trial of John Hinckley Jr., the guy who tried to assassinate President Ronald Reagan. His expert testimony set him in the limelight, as well as the legal community, such as the FBI, started to approach him for his expertise. In 1987, Dietz found the Threat Assessment Group (TAG), a company that helps corporations, organizations and people to handle stalkers, violent workers, merchandise tamperers as well as other problems.

In Hollywood, Dietz is a sought after advisor that has helped in movies including The Bodyguard, Copycat, Kiss the Girls, Primal Fear, Turbulence and What Lies Beneath.
