Norman Borlaug Biography




Norman Borlaug was born on March 25, 1914 in a farmhouse south of Cresco, Iowa. He graduated with a Ph.D. in plant pathology from the University of Minnesota in 1941. He went to study genetic mutation in plants in the Rockefeller Foundation’s Combined Mexican Agricultural System in Mexico. His work helped begin the Green Revolution and earned him a Nobel Peace Prize, Presidential Medal of Freedom along with the Congressional Gold Medal.
