She’s also appeared on a spinoff show, composed several publications and managed a line of style accessories.
She came to America after being embraced as an infant by an Italian-American couple, Andy and Helen Polizzi. As a teen, friends gave her the nickname “Snooki,” which was inspired with a male character in Julia Stiles’s 2001 film, Save the Last Dance.
Snooki attended high school in Marlboro, Ny, where she was an associate of the cheerleading squad. During high school, she overwhelmed an eating disorder. Yet, another career chance shortly appeared.
In 2008, MTV producers were looking for the cast of a brand new reality show about “Guidos and Guidettes” in the Jersey Shore. Snooki apparently wowed the network along with her audition, when the vocal 4’9″ brunette—coated in bronzer and coifed in her trademark poof—talked candidly about sex and booze.
When Jersey Shore started airing in 2009, it immediately became among the highest-rated shows on the network, and Snooki was its breakout star. After six seasons, the show finished in December 2012; Snooki stayed on MTV in a spinoff show, Snooki & Jwoww. In September 2013, she started appearing as among the contestants in the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars.
Success on television helped Snooki start her own lines of style accessories and beauty products. Her novel, A Shore Thing (2011), was a New York Times bestseller. She’s also authored Confessions of a Guidette and Gorilla Beach.
On August 26, 2012, Snooki and fianc Jionni LaValle had a baby son, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle. I am so a lot more mature. He is simply my life.”
