Michael McDonald Gibbs Biography:

Michael McDonald was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on February 12, 1952. In 1975, he started performing and recording using the groups Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers. He’s also well called a solo musician as well as a songwriter.

McDonald played in a number of groups as a high school pupil. In 1970, he moved to La, California, to continue a vocation in music. McDonald initially worked as a studio musician in La. In 1975, he joined the group Steely Dan as an in-studio adjunct member. McDonald also toured together with the group in the 1970s.

Along with his work with Steely Dan, McDonald started playing together with the Doobie Brothers in 1975. McDonald performed together with the group as a short-term replacement for vocalist Tom Johnston. The other members of the group were so impressed with McDonald, nevertheless, that they requested him to stay on as a permanent member. He’s also performed using the electronic group Holy Ghost!, and brought performances to the television shows 30 Rock and American Idol. McDonald has spoken out about his recovery from alcoholism, and has performed in gains to support healing organizations including Alcoholics Anonymous.
