Musician. Anthony was born Marco Antonio Muniz on September 16, 1968 in Nyc.
Marc Anthony grew up in Nyc along with his sister, Yolanda Muniz. His ability was apparent early on; Anthony understood he had the singing voice, but needed to come up with a stage presence to support it.
Marc switched his name, to prevent confusion with his namesake, and immediately became an in demand backup singer; giving his voice to acts including Menudo and the Latin Rascals.
Marc Anthony continued perform in the Nyc nightclub scene and also composed songs, often teaming with Little Louie Vega and Todd Terry.
Shortly after, Anthony shifted his singing style from Freestyle and House to salsa as well as other Spanish music. He’s never looked back; his records and singles have been best selling, together with the exception of his two English language records, 1999s Marc Anthony and 2002s Mended. In his attempt to crossover, it seems that Anthony could have turned away some of his core audience.
