Philip John Clapp Biography:

Produced in Tennessee in 1971, Johnny Knoxville has amused crowds for a decade and counting, most notably along with Steve O as well as the remaining Jackass crew. He’s also appeared in numerous Hollywood movies.

His dad, Phil Clapp, ran a local tire shop and played practical jokes on Knoxville during his youth. The future actor/stuntman got A’s in high school but had no need to attend faculty. After graduation, he moved to Southern California, where he’d won a scholarship to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, however he left acting school after just two weeks.

In 1995, he married Melanie Lynn Cates in Vegas. The couple had one daughter together, Madison. Knoxville says becoming a dad inspired him to pursue his profession seriously. His early work was short and mostly hidden: He appeared in fast food and soft drink advertisements and composed a novel which was never completed. “I only wished to be something,” he’s said. “I likely did not have the best strategy, in hindsight. Which was none.”

During those times, Knoxville additionally had an idea to compose an article where he examined self defense gear on himself. He pitched the concept to several magazines until his notion was accepted by the skateboarding publication Big Brother, on the condition he also videotape his experiments.
