John Jacob Astor IV Biography:
John Jacob Astor started his own fur trade store in 1786 and frequently traveled to the wilds to procure pelts for the store. Several years after, he made his first real estate investment. All his pelt companies were unified to the American Fur Company in 1808. Following the war of 1812, he became even wealthier than before from a bond take care of the U.S. government. He died in 1848.
