He started his theatrical career with all the Chicago improvisation group Second City. Sudeikis joined the show Saturday Night Live in 2004, first as a writer after which as a cast member. Since that time, he’s played in several feature films and appeared in recurring roles on shows including 30 Rock and Eastbound & Down.
His mom, Kathryn, is the sister of Cheers celebrity George Wendt. He’s a lover of Kansas sports and sometimes references Kansas landmarks and local culture on Saturday Night Live.
Jason Sudeikis started his career as a comedic performer at ComedySportz in Kansas City. He afterwards joined the well-known Second City troupe as a touring cast member and was a founding member of Second City Vegas. In this time, Sudeikis auditioned to get a position in the long-running theatrical performance Blue Man Group, of which he remains a supporter.
In 2003, Sudeikis started writing sketches for Saturday Night Live, sometimes appearing onscreen as an extra or bit musician. Among his recurring characters was Mitt Romney, whom he played throughout the span of the 2012 presidential campaign. In the spring of 2013, unconfirmed rumors of Sudeikis’s deviation in the show started to circulate.
Along with his work within the Saturday Night Live cast, Sudeikis has had several guest characters on television. He played Floyd DeBarber on the NBC show 30 Rock, opposite Tina Fey, between 2007 and 2010. He also had recurring roles on the shows It Is Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Eastbound and Down.
Sudeikis has expertise as a voice actor too. His voice can also be featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV, where he plays conservative radio host Richard Bastion.
While television and stage improvisation have been Sudeikis’s main formats to date, he’s also formed several appearances in feature films. In 2008, he played opposite Cameron Diaz in the 2008 comedy What Happens in Vegas. He also appeared in the 2010 movie The Bounty Hunter, playing a love-struck co-worker of the character played by Jennifer Aniston. Sudeikis and Aniston played collectively again the 2011 comedy Horrible Bosses, alongside Charlie Day and Jason Bateman. Exactly the same year, Sudeikis clinched his first starring role in the Farrelly brothers film Hall Pass.
Sudeikis has been wed and divorced once. In 2004, he married actress and 30 Rock writer Kay Cannon following a drawn-out relationship. The couple split in 2008 and divorced in 2010. In 2011, he started dating celebrity Olivia Wilde. Wilde gave birth to their very first kid on April 20, 2014. She pronounced the couple’s infant news in tweet:”Ladies and gentlemen, Otis Alexander Sudeikis has LEFT the building! (I am the building).”
