James Paul Marsden Biography:
His career breakthrough came in the character as Cyclops in the action adventure movie X Men (2000). He also appeared in the film’s two sequels. Marsden’s chiseled good looks made him a natural for intimate characters in movies like The Notebook (2004) and Heights (2005).
He and his sibs Jeff, Robert, Elizabeth and Jennifer were raised by their dad, a meat and poultry inspector, and mom, a nutritionist.
Marsden’s chiseled good looks got him work as a Versace model. He attended Oklahoma State University to study broadcast journalism, but left halfway through to pursue playing. Marsden starred in a lead character in the short lived show Second Noah (1996 97) and also appeared in the movie Disturbing Behavior (1998) with Katie Holmes.
Marsden’s breakthrough came in the character of Cyclops in the action adventure movie X Men (2000). The success movie spawned the sequels X2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), where he reprised his character as a crime-fighting hero. Marsden showcased his singing ability in the movies Hairspray (2007) and Enchanted (2007). For Hairspray, Marsden was nominated along with his fellow performers to get a 2008 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
During the following several years, Marsden appeared in a number of movies and TV series, including 27 Dresses (2008), Death at a Funeral (2010), Modern Family (2011) and 30 Rock (201213). Marsden also starred in the 2013 movie The Butler with Terrence Howard, Minka Kelly and Melissa Leo.
He told Men’s Health, “I loathe being poor. If I actually want to understand something, I immerse myself in it. That have every ounce of my ideas until I am extremely great at it.”
Marsden started dating celebrity Lisa Linde in 1995. The couple divorced in September 2011, citing irreconcilable differences.
Marsden subsequently briefly dated Brazilian model Rose Costa, who gave birth to their own son William on December 14, 2012.
