A future vibrant culinary style, Guy Ramsey Ferry was born on January 22, 1968, after changing his last name to the first family spelling “Fieri.” He opened up his first food company in the age of 10, using his own pretzel cart. After school, he was employed as a restaurant manager, subsequently began his own restaurant having a partner in 1996. In 2006, Fieri started his TV career after winning Next Food Network Star. Now, he hosts several food-themed shows.
Growing up in Ferndale, California, Guy Fieri acquired a passion for food and entrepreneurship early on. He along with his dad constructed a unique pretzel cart when he was 10 years old.
While attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Fieri worked several distinct eatery occupations. He even served as a flamb captain to get a time. He put his degree to work in a Stouffer’s eatery, and afterwards became a district manager for Louise’s Trattoria.
In 1996, Fieri began his first eatery with associate Steve Gruber. The pair found an Italian eatery called Johnny Garlic’s in Santa Rosa, California. They finally start two more places. Fieri and Gruber branched out from Italian cuisine to start Tex Wasabi’s in 2003. The eatery is a fusion of Southern BBQ and California-style sushi.
He told the network he likes to “dwell large, laugh hard, and cook crazy” in his audition video. His rock ‘n’ roll approach helped earn him an opportunity to compete, beating out more than 1,000 other entrants. In 2006, he emerged triumphant, becoming the second person to win the cooking reality show.
The bleached-blonde chef took his love of food on the way for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which likewise debuted in 2006. On the show, Fieri travels the state in search of delicious, unpretentious eats. He next took on a more conventional-style cooking show arrangement with Guy Off the Hook in 2008, where he cooked in front of a live crowd. Over time, Fieri has appeared as an uncommon culinary icon along with his trademark spiky hair, tats, bowling shirts and skateboarder short pants.
In 2009, Fieri united his love of food and music to make the Guy Fieri Roadshow. This “food-a-palooza” tour featured a DJ, beverages and cooking demonstrations. He’s also composed several novels, including 2011’s Guy Fieri Food: More Than 150 Off The Hook Recipes.
