Grace Jane Gummer Biography:
Produced on May 9, 1986, celebrity Grace Gummer was raised in both California and Connecticut. Gummer and her older sister, Mamie, followed their acclaimed mom, Meryl Streep, in the acting company. Gummer appeared in her first important play in 2008, rapidly adding additional characters in movies, television shows and Broadway productions to her curriculum vitae. She’s two older siblings—sister Mamie and brother Henry—and a younger sister, Louisa.
Gummer appeared in her first credited movie role in 1993, playing a smaller version of her mom’s character, Clara del Valle Trueba, in The House of the Spirits. As a high school pupil, Gummer pursued sports over theatre, playing lacrosse and serving as captain of the swim team. Gummer embarked on her acting career following a post-graduation stint in Rome, Italy. A couple of years after, she starred on the Nickelodeon television show Gigantic and appeared in the crime-play feature film Meskada.
From the time Gummer’s career had started taking shape, her older sister, Mamie, was already working consistently as an actress. Both sisters bear a striking similarity with their well-known mom that asks comparison. Gummer has said that her parents, while supportive of her decision to pursue acting, failed to push her into the field, and would have supported her in any sector she selected.
Movie characters continued for Gummer following Meskada. She also continued to act as a stage performer. In 2011, Gummer played Chloe Coverly in the Nyc revival of Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia. She subsequently joined the cast of The Columnist in the year 2012, costarring with John Lithgow. Gummer has also continued to act as a TV celebrity. The exact same year, HBO announced that Gummer had signed on for a recurring character in the next season of Aaron Sorkin’s play The Newsroom.
