Created November 4, 1975, in Melbourne, Australia, famous chef, best selling writer, TV personality and entrepreneur Curtis Stone first learned to cook as a kid beneath the guidance of his mom and grandma.
“My mother’s mother, who we called ‘Granny,’ was a great cook. She instructed me to make my first-ever recipe: Yorkshire Fudge,” Stone told BravoTV.com.
Stone attended Victoria University in Melbourne before leaving to continue a vocation in food. He started out cooking in The Savoy Hotel’s 5 star restaurant in Melbourne before travelling through Europe with his companion. At 21, after three months traveling, Stone arrived in London without money with no occupation.
Appearing to get expertise in the kitchen, Stone offered to work at no cost at The Grill Room at Caf Royal with chef Marco Pierre White. “I determined I would work for renowned chef Marco Pierre White—no matter what it got,” Stone said. Eventually, he was hired and remained on staff for a couple of years.
“I was cooking this superb high end food, but sleeping on a teammate’s couch, also broke to get my very own flat. Marco was racking up Michelin stars but also throwing plates in the line on a nightly basis,” Stone recalled.
Stone graduated to sous chef in the Mirabelle, where he worked for a couple of years before moving forward to become head chef at White’s main eatery, Quo Vadis.
“My partner and fellow chef Ben O’Donoghue and I traveled around Australia, investigating incredible locations, meeting wonderful people, cooking, and surfing.”
As NBC’s resident chef, Stone has appeared on The Biggest Loser, leads to The Today Show and was cohost of America’s Next Great Restaurant. He’s also competed on The Celebrity Apprentice.
Stone took over as co host of Bravo’s reality show Top Chef Masters after its third season. He also cohosts Around the World in 80 Plates, a culinary experience show that airs on Bravo, with Cat Cora.
In 2006, People Magazine named Stone among the hottest guys alive.
In 2008, Stone found Kitchen Solutions, a line of cooking products and baking pans, which will be sold worldwide.
Stone has released four novels, including Comfortable Cooking with Curtis Stone: Recipes to Get You in The Best Disposition, printed in 2009. He favors straightforward flavors and attempts to make use of locally grown, organic ingredients whenever you can.
Stone started dating actress Lindsay Price in 2009. Their second son Emerson was born in September 2014.
