Colin Kaepernick Biography:
Colin Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1987. The San Francisco 49ers drafted Kaepernick in 2011, and he led the team to Super Bowl XLVII less than two years after.
He was only several weeks old when he was adopted by Rick and Teresa Kaepernick, who already had two kids in their own but had lost two other infants not long after arrival due to heart defects.
Confronted with all the prospect of raising her son on her own (Kaepernick’s biological dad fled when he found Russo was pregnant), she’d spent much of her pregnancy debating whether she should place her baby up for adoption. After meeting the Kaepernicks, who was presented to her through a mutual friend, she chose to give her young kid upwards.
As white parents of a biracial child, the Kaepernicks regularly received stares or interesting remarks. At school, classmates told Colin that it was hopeless for the Kaepernicks to be his parents.
“We have been extremely open in regards to the adoption, and we were always quite open in regards to the skin colors,” Teresa Kaepernick told The New York Times in 2010. “We pointed it out as a favorable, and he saw his difference and was comfortable by it.”
Fit in a youthful age, Kaepernick, who moved along with his family to California when he was 4 years old, started playing youth football at age 8. His strong arm immediately elevated him to the quarterback position.
But football was Kaepernick’s first love. In the fourth grade, he even composed a letter calling that he’d function as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. “I expect I go into a great school in football then visit the professionals and play on the Niners or the Packers, even though they’re not great in seven years,” he wrote.
But Kaepernick, whose large arm was hampered by what scouts viewed as a poor throwing movement, was mostly passed over from the major college football programs. There were also worries the razor thin sportsman—he matched his 6’6″ frame with only 170 pounds—would get damage.
It was just following a tryout in a camp put on from the University of Nevada, Reno, that Kaepernick revealed enough to merit a scholarship, and he later registered in the institution in the autumn of 2007. Throwing for 384 yards and four touchdowns, Kaepernick never relinquished the starting job and ended the year with 19 touchdowns.
While worries about Kaepernick’s throwing truth still hovered around him, the San Francisco 49ers picked the quarterback in the 2nd round of the 2011 NFL draft.
As he’d done in school, Kaepernick immediately adjusted to the newest contest, dazzling 49er fans and trainers along with his unmatched athleticism. Following the second year QB led the team to a number of large wins, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh named the youthful player his long-term starting quarterback. As the team had come within several plays of visiting the Super Bowl only annually before, and because Smith had lately garnered among the league’s highest QB ratings, the choice proved to be a contentious one.
But Kaepernick shut out the sound. As the triumphs built, Kaepernick’s celebrity grew, even his good-tattooed arms acquired notoriety. In the 2012 playoffs, Kaepernick kept up his powerful play. In his first postseason start, he commanded Aaron Rodgers as well as the Green Bay Packers, rushing for 181 yards into a establish a new NFL single game record for a quarterback. After conquering the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC championship game, Kaepernick as well as the 49ers fell to Ray Lewis as well as the Baltimore Ravens at Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans.
“It is better to get the encounter,” a somber Kaepernick said following the sport. “We should have won that match regardless, though.”
