Pamela Denise Anderson Biography:
Produced on July 1, 1967, in British Columbia, Canada, Pamela Anderson started her career modeling in Labatt beer advertising and then in the pages of Playboy. She transitioned to acting on TV’s Home Improvement, but actual recognition came with Baywatch, making her a household name and immediate sex symbol. A longtime supporter of animal rights, Anderson continues to play in smaller parts. She’s slated to generate a return to the show in the year 2012, for season 15: Dancing with the Stars: All Stars.
Pamela Anderson was born on July 1, 1967 into a working class family in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada. After high school, she was employed as an exercise teacher until she was “found” at a Canadian football game. Anderson, wearing a form-fitting Labatt’s tee shirt, was broadcast on the stadium’s giant screen. She was subsequently hired by Labatt’s to appear within their ads.
An offer from Playboy shortly followed. She’d go to appear in five more issues of the magazine.
She got her first major break in 1991 as the “Tool Time Girl” on the sitcom Home Improvement. While there, she brought the attention of casting agents from Baywatch, who were looking to replace Erika Elaniak, the shows then-present blond bombshell. The hourlong show depicting the lives of Malibu lifeguards was a virtually plotless vehicle for semi nude video montages as well as the critics panned it so. Nevertheless, fueled by regular pictures of the voluptuous Anderson, the show became the highest rated program world-wide.
Anderson’s television success didn’t transfer well to the big screen.
The show stays a success in syndication.
Anderson’s 1995 marriage to Motley Crue rocker Tommy Lee caught constant media focus. They couple had two children, Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger. But, the union was always fraught with controversy, including an episode where stolen honeymoon tapes of the couple having sex were broadcast on the internet. The union ended in divorce in 1998 after Lee was arrested and convicted for spousal abuse.
In March of 2002, Anderson went public with the news that she’s hepatitis-C. She claimed she got the disease by sharing a tattoo needle with Lee. The private disaster did not derail Anderson’s yearlong love affair with rapper Kid Rock (a.k.a. Robert Ritchie). Both wed on July 29, 2006, on a yacht near St. Tropez France. In November 2006, it was declared that Anderson miscarried. Several weeks after, she filed for divorce from Kid Rock, citing irreconcilable differences.
Anderson wed Rick Solomon in 2007. The union was annulled a few months afterwards. She remarried him in January 2014 but called it quits in July.
In the movie, Anderson played herself in what seemed to be a real life botched kidnapping. Crowds debated whether or not the appearance was intended or a surprise. The movie was nominated for both an Academy Award as well as a Golden Globe.
Anderson declared she was engaged to socialite Rick Salomon. The couple wed in October of this year, however they filed for divorce soon after, on December 14th. Two days after, the ex-husbands were seen shopping collectively, and Anderson declared that the two were working on their relationship. Their truce, however, was short: In March of 2008, after just nine weeks of marriage, the couple formally annuled their union mentioning problems of fraud.
Anderson made her return to the show in the year 2012, for season 15: Dancing with the Stars: All Stars.
Offscreen, Anderson, a lifelong vegetarian, is an outspoken advocate for PETA, protesting using pelt as well as the hunting of seals. She even auctioned off a 2000 Viper sports car that seemed in Pam: Girl on the Loose to support the nonprofit organization.
