Produced on October 10, 1979, in the Washington, D.C., place to a musical family, Ma Marie Harrison studied dancing during youth. She was educated by tapper and choreographer Savion Glover in the Dance Theater of Harlem and was subsequently featured in a special Kennedy Center solo performance.
