David Duchovny Biography

In 1988 David made his silver screen debut with a bit part in the film Working Girl. In the early 1990s, Duchovny took on a sequence of little, far-out movie characters. In 1993 David got his breakthrough role as FBI agent Fox Mulder on The X-Files. In 2007 Duchovny returned to TV fulltime having a starring part as Hank Moody in Showtime’sCalifornication.

His Scottish-born mother Margaret, nicknamed Meg, was a teacher as well as a school administrator.

David Duchovny is the family’s middle kid. David and his siblings went to live with their mom when their parents divorced. Duchovny was 11 years old at that time.

As a teenager, Duchovny attended prep school on scholarship in the Collegiate School in Manhattan. Unlike the majority of his classmates, Duchovny dwelt manner uptown and had to work odd jobs: as a bike delivery man, and afterwards as a lifeguard on summer breaks. Following a year spent working on a novel, Duchovny was granted a fellowship to attend Yale. At Yale, Duchovny received his master’s degree in English literature and rapidly went to pursue his doctorate.

While himself was working on his dissertation at Yale, Duchovny began commuting to nyc to play in Broadway plays. His mom was gravely disappointed when he left his dissertation to more greatly pursue playing.

Duchovny first attained commercial success at 27, when he was cast in a television advertisement for Lowenbrau beer. In 1988 David made his silver screen debut with a bit part in the film Working Girl. The part resulted in a larger character in the low budget art film New Year’s Day. Frustrated with too little major improvement in his career, Duchovny fired his representative and went to Hollywood, where he hired new rendering.

In 1993 himself got his breakthrough role as FBI agent Fox Mulder on the sci fi TV series The X-Files. Audiences were intrigued by the onscreen chemistry between Duchovny and his costar Gillian Anderson, who played fellow representative Dana Scully. Some even supposed that the two were fraternizing behind the scenes, although Duchovny denied all claims. The nerdy yet hot detective Mulder shortly caught on as a sex symbol. In 1995 the show was able to beat out the extremely popular ER for a Golden Globe Award. The X-Files show concluded having a film in 1998. For another ten years, Duchovny returned to the big screen, shooting a couple of movies a year—occasionally more. In 2007 himself returned to TV fulltime having a starring part as Hank Moody in Showtime’sCalifornication.

In the spring of 1997, Duchovny wedded celebrity Ta Leoni following the couple was dating for just three months. In 2008, Duchovny admitted to truly being a sex addict and declared he’d seek rehabilitation treatment. Because of this, the couple split briefly. In 2011, Brad split once again, for undisclosed reasons. Collectively Duchovny and Leoni have two kids: a daughter named Madelaine as well as a son, Kyd.
