Charles Bernard Rangel Biography:

Produced into a distressed family on June 11, 1930, Charles Rangel showed his epic side through the Korean war, winning several medals for bravery. Politician Charles Bernard Rangel was born on June 11, 1930, in Nyc. The couple eloped and, three years after, Charles’ oldest brother, Ralph, was born. Charles was born seven years after, but by then his oldest brother were taken in by relatives and was seldom about. Rangel’s early family life was tumultuous; his dad seldom held a job, and physically mistreated Charles’ mom. “My dad was certainly no great,” Rangel says. “In my first memory of him…my dad was reaching my mom on the measures of some flat-type building.” Rangel’s dad left the family when Charles was 6 years old.

Charles’ relationship with his mom was much different, yet—he describes most of his early life as “constantly around her apron strings.” Unlike his siblings, Rangel generally followed his mom about during her passing lifestyle. He traveled with her to occupations as a seamstress and maid, and went with her as she discovered new romantic interests. He credits his relatives with giving him great study habits and construction. “I ‘d enough going for me, when it comes to assurance and great work habits, that studying actually was no huge deal,” Rangel says.
