Kemal Amen Kasem Biography:

Once he returned to America, Kasem jumped into radio with verve, working at stations all over the united states. In the late 1960s, he set his abilities to work on television, performing the voice of Batman’s Robin and Scooby Doo’s Shaggy, among other famous animated characters. In 1970, Kasem established American Top 40, a syndicated radio show that will send him to the very top of his field and in the American pop music awareness for another four decades.

When he was 20 years old, Kasem was drafted in the U.S. Army and headed to Korea. There, he continued to use his program abilities as both a DJ and an announcer in the Armed Forces Radio Korea Network. In this improbable stadium, he started really acquiring his on air abilities, scattering factoids regarding the music he played into his programs.

After leaving Korea, Kasem moved around America, working on his craft at radio stations in San Francisco, Cleveland and Oakland, among other cities. Notable only at that time was Kasem’s opening of his famed “teaser and bio” attribute, which he used to lead into another tune on his playlist; this attribute would place his later shows besides the contest.
